BLACK BEAUTY

Booted and suited he admired her
singular wildness from afar; then,
clicking his fingers, he triggered the snare,
brought her down,
slapped her fine leather across his knee
like a desk on which to bang his fist.

Taking the stars from her eyes
he attached them to his heels,
digging them in hard to increase her velocity,
stamping his lucky shoes
upon her rippling flanks.

Gagging her with a bit of pure gold,
he coiled her mane between elbow and palm,
pulled back her head to intensify vision,
setting her sights blinkered on the course
of his destiny.

But he could neither quell her rebellion
nor prevent her strength uprising:
she slid him from her back like a spent phallus,
asserting her sovereignty: The Lone Danger.
